This Gansu Museum Flying Horse fridge magnet presents a dark green galloping horse outlined in gold. The Story Behind the Flying Horse
The design draws on the Flying Horse of Gansu, an Eastern Han bronze discovered in Wuwei, Gansu. In the original sculpture, a single hoof rests on a bird in flight, giving the galloping horse an extraordinary sense of speed and lightness. That seemingly impossible moment is what makes the image so memorable.
This magnet gives the historic subject a different visual treatment: a deep green, blue, and gold palette with decorative wave patterns rather than a realistic bronze finish. It offers a colorful interpretation of the familiar horse, rather than a faithful reproduction of the ancient sculpture.
