Description
⚠️ Please Note — This is a Decorative Landmark Figurine, NOT a Fridge Magnet.
Isis, the Winged Protector of the Nile
Long before the great temples lined the Nile, Isis was the goddess Egyptians turned to for healing, magic and safe passage. Tomb painters gave her outstretched falcon wings, a gesture of shelter that repeats on sarcophagi, temple walls and amulets from Abydos to Philae.
Her crown says exactly who she is: a red sun disc cradled between cow horns, borrowed from Hathor and worn by Isis in her role as divine mother. The kneeling pose with arms flung wide beneath feathered wings comes straight out of New Kingdom funerary art.
That protective silhouette is what makes this Egyptian souvenir figurine instantly readable — one of the few images from ancient Egypt that still communicates its meaning without a caption.
Hand-Painted Feather Work on a Free-Standing Decorative Figurine
The piece is cast solid and finished by hand: the goddess’s body is left in a warm gold that catches lamplight, while the wings are painted in banded rows of green, cornflower blue and rust — the palette Egyptian artists once mixed from malachite, azurite and ochre.
Thin gold lines separate every feather, the striped black wig frames a painted face, and the terracotta-red plinth carries small raised hieroglyphs along its front edge. At 8.7 cm across and 7 cm tall, it sits flat and free-standing with no stand or fixing required.
Wings this wide read best with room around them — a gap on a bookshelf, the corner of a desk, a mantel, or a glass curio case beside other finds from a Nile trip. On a shelf of Egyptian pieces, those outstretched wings give the whole group a natural centre.
